Requirements to become a Journeyman Plumber are a five year apprenticeship program, with each year consisting of up to 2,000 hours of on-the-job training. A minimum of 216 hours of classroom training, and an approved OSHA ten hour construction training card.
After these requirements are met and verified, the apprentice takes an examination by the Board of Plumbing Examiners. A score of 75 or better is required for securing a license.
A Journeyman license must be renewed every three years with a minimum of 12 PEU (Professional Education Units) required for renewal.
